The center theory

By Mike Hall, March 7, 2017

The reasons for hitting up the middle in doubles are many. Watch a pro doubles match on TV and it’s easy…like this picture, to see the confusion this creates. You really cannot be criticized for playing this shot.

Some other considerations are that the net is lowest in the middle, your opponents will rarely angle a volley that you or your partner can’t get, and when both are pulled to the center, down the side on the next makes it tough for them to cover.

Oh…and last but not least, the center theory ensures you’ll not miss wide. The better the player, the fewer balls wide or in the net
