Happy New Year

December 31, 2016

New Year’s Day. A fresh start. A new chapter in life waiting to be written. New questions to be asked, embraced, and loved. Answers to be discovered and then lived in this transformative year of delight and self-discovery. Today carve out a quiet interlude for yourself in which to dream, pen in hand. Only dreams […]

Being the last one chosen isn’t the worst thing…but it can seem like it.

Soar

December 31, 2016

My work unblocks people, and then I look at the work that they do, and I think, ‘My God, how could they not have known they were talented? How could they not have known?’ Julia Cameron

Take a hike

December 31, 2016

Rain or shine…snow or no…Wendy has taken author Julia Cameron’s advice, and begun taking an artist’s walk every morning. It gets her moving…clears out the cobwebs in her mind and is the source of most of her best ideas. She can’t remember what it was like before heeding this advice. Wendy has found clarity and […]

Reflection

December 31, 2016

When the calendar reads twelve thirty-one… Why not reflect upon the year that’s departed, Maybe just a tweak or two is all that’s needed, Like a tuneup before the next year gets started.

Hilarious

December 30, 2016

Just a thought…if you need a good laugh to begin the new year, just google Dog and squirrel play chase around tree. It’s about a minute and nine seconds and well worth the time.

Vision

December 30, 2016

I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can’t see from the center. Kurt Vonnegut

Gracias

December 29, 2016

Rattlesnakes…arrows…grizzly bears…loneliness …scorpions…blizzards…cougars…drought. Survive all of these and be quick to the trigger at a second’s notice. We really have reaped the benefits of those brave brothers and sisters who tamed the West.

Do it now

December 29, 2016

Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying. Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows. Pope Paul VI

Timeout

December 29, 2016

There are signs. Inklings. Indications. Synchronicities that happen where you just have to shake your head and whisper ‘WoW’. The trouble these days is our speed up…get it in gear…pedal to the metal frenetic pace of life that blurs our vision. It dulls our senses and makes us hard of hearing. When rushed, we miss […]

Lighten up, just enjoy life, smile more, laugh more, and don’t get so worked up about things. Kenneth Branagh

Try to imagine this. A polar has such a sense of smell that it can smell a seal’s breathing hole in the ice from a mile away. Photo and fact from Dave Irey

Wowser

December 28, 2016

If you see one movie this holiday season, take my word and see Lion. It is one of the best films this youngster has seen in quite some time. Incredible story that grabs you from the start and never lets go.

Gifted

December 28, 2016

Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained. Marie Curie

Hope

December 27, 2016

These leaves are forgotten now…laid to rest eight weeks ago. Blue sky replaced by gray. The branches shiver now as winter rules the day. Nights are unforgiving. Blizzards terrifying. Will I ever regain that splendor of old? Thank you, spring. Thank you a thousand times more. You save me from the cold…the harsh misconception that […]

My little dog – a heartbeat at my feet. Edith Wharton

Choice

December 27, 2016

Each morning there’s a choice that is made. Today, I’ll walk with happy feet and bring a smile to everyone I meet. Or…there’s a world of woe to wade through today, you’ll only get a frown from me until it goes away.

Duende

December 26, 2016

The Golf Channel has been doing a holiday tribute to The King…Arnold Palmer. Most of you who visit here are probably not golfers…or old enough to remember Arnie when he was in his prime. To listen to athletes from all sports and others talk about his impact and legacy is special. The couple in Florida […]

Fishing frenzy

December 26, 2016

My friend Cary called to invite this youngster to go fishing. He said the river up north was loaded with salmon who attack multi-colored streamers like Von Miller hitting quarterbacks. Cary said to bring lots of warm clothing and that he would bring plenty of bear spray just in case. Thanks Cary.

Let it out

December 26, 2016

Laughter…burst the belly…delirious delight laughing is that much needed salve that soothes the pains and takes the cross from our shoulders that inevitably we must bear.
