Oh my!

A very young cowboy drove to Pueblo yesterday to fish The Arkansas River. How neat to see a bald eagle on the trip and so glad I brought my camera. Even though the trout disregarded my offerings, some people seemed to do very well.

Wowser

One has to feel a bit sorry for these professional golfers. The first two weeks were spent in Hawaii and last week it was Torrey Pines, California. Here’s hoping they carry cameras with them.

Tennis legend

January 27, 2017

Chet Murphy was the longtime tennis professional at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. He was terrific. An accomplished player and author, one of his most popular books was the classic Tennis for Thinking Players. Mr. Murphy knew that players could easily get lost inside their own skulls and fall prey to paralysis by analysis. […]

Rick decided to be a stay at home dad when Emily was born. He said it would be a one year gig until he returned to work. One wonders if he’ll keep that pledge.

Can you name this Grand Slam champion who still is winning doubles titles in her thirties? A hint…her first name is Martina and her last is not Navratilova. One of the most creative players ever, her technique on the volley is impeccable. What can you learn from her two handed backhand volley? The head of […]

Bravo

Most of our limits are self imposed. The easy thing is to listen to the voice of comfort and complacency. Bravo to those who, by their actions, rise above and turn the world upside down.

The temperature in Aspen hovered at zero degrees. The X Games were underway and the daring acrobatics by the athletes is astounding. The participants have banded together in an effort to heighten awareness of bullying in schools. You can google XGames/ShredHate to learn more. The website notes that ten million students are victims of bullying […]

Catch & release

January 26, 2017

A very young cowboy went hunting for trout today…rainbow, brown, or brook it doesn’t really matter which takes the hook. The main difference between this bear I encountered today and fishermen is clear. Many people who fish practice the ‘catch and release’ idea to keep trout populations thriving. Bears have never adhered to this practice […]

Change

January 26, 2017

A doubles team has decided to switch from the norm and play one and a half back when receiving. Can you think of reasons why they’ve made this adjustment? Here are some possible reasons. The server has a dominating serve and is holding serve too easily. The server’s partner is creating havoc with poaches and […]

‘I hear you, mom. Even to me it seems juvenile to worry about ‘crowd size’ at the recent inauguration. Are there not more important things to be looked at? Now…can I have seconds on the applesauce?’

Priorities

Peter asked the man, “was there anything you missed while living on Earth?” The wealthy executive thought for a few seconds and then said, “Yes, I worked so hard for forty years, I really never spent much time with the kids…or their children.” Peter placed his hand on his chin and looked perplexed. “You mean […]

Clueless

January 23, 2017

For the past dozen years or so, we’ve faced a dilemma. Two dogs near us bark…my bad, HOWL every morning before six o’clock. We have tried earplugs, animal control, and Dr. Phil. What’s perplexing is one would think that the owners of these nuisances would have a clue. Certainly they must hear this…must realize what […]
