If you look closely at the logo on his shirt, it might make sense that Dave is the first known human to survive a swan dive from the top of the rock in the distance.

He wore no helmet because the association frowns on it.

Dave hopes the effects of the concussive impact will diminish in time so he can remember where he put his car keys, sunglasses, wallet, and favorite belt.
