Jason Goodall was commentating on a men’s singles match today when he used a typically British expression in describing the play.

He said that Dominic Thiem and his opponent had played very ‘tidy’ tennis in the first set before becoming a bit careless in the second.

Can this word help your tennis?

Without a doubt.

Resist aiming close to the lines…exert positional pressure by getting to the net…and see if your opponents fold.

Being tidy is making the shots you routinely make in practice and not letting your eyes and mind fast forward beyond the ball your playing.

May you and your partner commit to playing very tidy tennis in your next match.
