Silly Little Things

By Mike Hall, February 25, 2026

Andre Agassi could have been the first player to use string dampeners

to lessen the’ping’ sound at impact. His was a rubber band tied in two

knots around the two central vertical strings.

These days, we see a lot of worm dampeners that extend across the

entire width of the string bed.

Here’s my take on them…let’s say a golfer takes his putter from the bag

and strokes a 35 foot putt without taking off the putter cover, that’s about

the same mute effect of these silly worms.

If you ever see a professional using one, please text me.
