The Window Seat

By Mike Hall, January 16, 2016

“We’ve reached our cruising altitude of 37,OOO ft. and you’re free to move about the cabin. Our arrival time at LAX is 2:37 p.m. so enjoy the flight. We are expecting a smooth trip but, just in case we encounter unexpected turbulence, please keep your seat belts fastened.” Passengers nearby are reading or working on laptops but what about you? Do you take a minute to gaze at the clouds that minutes ago were so far above and now are two thousand feet below your window? Have you ever taken the time to ponder this miracle that propels you so fast and so far to your destination? Maybe you close your eyes and consider special friends or family members who now reside in the heavens beyond. They too looked with fascination at the sights passing by your window.

At five hundred miles an hour, the world goes by so quickly. Just as rapidly, time seems like a vapor that is gone in an instant whether we’re airborne or just trying to make it through another day on the ground. Take a minute today to sit quietly and reflect on any miracle you’d like.

They’re all around if one steps back and makes time to take them all in.
