Introspection

December 2, 2021

‘For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need […]

Terrific Tony

November 29, 2021

Ninety-five year old Tony Bennett performed a career closing concert last night with his great friend Lady Gaga. It was Mr Bennett’s birthday and the pair wowed the New York crowd with many of Tony’s greatest hits. The legendary singer has been battling dementia for a few years but, put him in front of an […]

Never again

November 28, 2021

I was in the middle of a tennis lesson with 7 year old Oliver. He was hitting some beautiful two handed backhands and displayed some nice touch on his forehand volley. We stopped to pick up balls and I made an error in judgment. I asked Oliver how old he thought I was. He thought […]

The One and Only

November 23, 2021

A very young cowboy heard a story a few years ago. A wise man said there are over 300 Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament. He said that One Man in history fulfilled each and every one. Then, he gave an example I will remember forever. He stated that the odds of One Man fulfilling […]

Amen

November 22, 2021

What if there is a piece of heaven planted inside each of us? Close your eyes, for just a minute, and you might believe it’s true. A place of peace, wonder, abundance, and acceptance that small children seem to inhabit every day. Are there forces that, like an electric fence, keep us adults on the […]

Dudley

November 22, 2021

Ms. Sally took advantage of our Indian summer weather and took Dudley on a two mile walk. Mr. Wigggly Butt, as I call him, is a year old King Charles Cavalier with nearly inexhaustible energy. That is until he returns from a multiple mile walk.

Appetizing?

October 17, 2021

Lately, Panera has been running a commercial on tv showcasing their new Mac and cheese sandwich. No offense, but my wife and I agree that ‘appetizing’ is not a word we’d choose when viewing this sandwich. What do you think?

“When it’s over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.“ Mary Oliver

Insanity

October 11, 2021

How’s that open border policy working for us, Joe? Oh, my bad, Kamala has it under control.

True colors

October 11, 2021

Sally and I were disappointed that the Netflix series Love on The Spectrum was only two seasons. The show features young people in their twenties who have some degree of autism and their search for dating opportunities. The people redefine the word genuine. We smiled and chuckled through each show.

Did ya know?

Enough is enough

October 11, 2021

A good friend was asked why he sold his golf clubs after playing for fifty years. ‘That’s easy…I decided I’d rather die of natural causes.’

My bad, Abigail

October 10, 2021

An aging gentleman was stopped at a traffic light early Saturday morning. The light turned green and he stepped on the gas without realizing he’d shifted to a lower gear. As the car hiccupped forward, the driver behind me began honking like a maniac. I looked in the rear view mirror fully expecting to see […]

Courage

June 9, 2021

Sally suggested a book that I subsequently picked up at Koelbel library. Every Man A Hero…A Memoir of D-Day by Ray Lambert and Jim DeFelice. Mr. Lambert is a decorated medic whose courage that day and in the war were extraordinary. Here is an excerpt. “Working my way across the beach, I found a man […]

No greater love

June 2, 2021

Hailey is 17 and hears a commotion in her backyard. Her dogs are in a barking frenzy. A large brown bear and two cubs have scaled the fence. Does she call 911? No, Ms. Hailey makes a mad dash towards the bear, knocks it off balance, grabs a dog, and races back to the house. […]

Oh Yeah

May 25, 2021

This was a neat story in Janice Dean’s book entitled Make Your Own Sunshine. A young couple was returning home on a flight with their newly adopted daughter. The flight attendants learned of their story and decided to make an announcement to the other passengers. The cabin, upon hearing the news, erupted in applause and […]

Sanity

April 30, 2021

“Loving your homeland is just as natural as loving your father or mother – after all, your country nourishes you, protects you, and in many ways makes you who you are.” Bill Bennett Mr. Bennett also cautions against relaxing math standards in school like the insanity in Virginia. He wisely condemns critical race theory because […]

Basement level ownership

April 17, 2021

A good friend asked if I might want to go see a Major League Baseball game at Coors Field. I said that the team’s mismanagement resulting in a current last place standing means we’d have to travel over six hundred miles to Kansas City to see the majors play. Holy Schmole! ** That’s the result […]
