Gold Medal

By Mike Hall, January 3, 2017

My good friend Cheryl on The Gold Coast in Australia contends that countless adults wear a mask every day. They live behind a barrier that is self protective. At one time, they suffered…had to hide…ran away…stuffed the pain so deep in hopes no one could see it.

It wasn’t possible to erase. Internal scars are often hard to see. The cuts don’t scab over and then ‘presto’, disappear.

The eyes tell the story.

Always have always will.

It takes the wounded about two seconds to see it in a friend or neighbor. Hurt…anger…sadness, or resentment. Take a card, any card. Self protection comes with a price.

In wearing the mask, the real self lays dormant. The injured one hides. Not to hurt or be vulnerable again. Too painful. Too damaging to have the authentic, hurt, person endangered once more.

The wounded are hyper intuitive. They instantly spot the bright…shiny…little or no pain…Katie bar the door…I can touch the sky eyes of anyone they meet.

That’s why this picture grabbed me.

Kudos parents!

The Gold Medal is yours…keep it up.
