She was a youngster around five or six.
Freckles, blonde hair and sneakers…

The girl seemed innocent enough
with no hint of malice or disrespect.

Some friends have mentioned that she said it in fun
and that I shouldn’t have panicked or come undone.

But I ask you…..how do you
manage a smile

When she asks “were you a soldier in World War 1?”
