Looking back, there have been giants in basketball with Wilt Chamberlain coming immediately to mind.
I was fortunate to see Wilt play at Kansas in around 1959. The ‘ Big Dipper’ 50 points and 32 of them came from rim rattling dunks. Chamberlain was an exceptional athlete with notable successes in volleyball and track and field.
Kareem Abdul Jabbar dominated pro basketball in the 70’s with his sky hook that perhaps is the prettiest shot in the history of the game.
And now, Victor Wembanyana, has arrived and, at 7’4”, has an array of skills never seen before for a player over seven feet tall.
One can imagine Wilt, Bill Russell, and Bill Walton relaxing with beers in heaven and laughing out loud at what Mr. ‘Wemby’ does to gifted but outclassed opponents.
Have a look at this guy and know there’s no one else like him on earth.
You might say he’s just a dunk machine but his jump shot from Caitlin Clark land is as pure technically as Ray Allen of The Boston Celtics who must love watching this fella too.
