Life is grand
A great friend is a terrific golfer and athlete who is a new dad to a four month old angel.
He only gets to play once a week and I have asked if the new baby has given him some added perspective on the links.
This fella, like many former competitive athletes, is prone to having very high expectations and marvels at the playing partners who are duffers but who seem to be smiling and cracking jokes for four and a half hours.
He reported that he started a round this week and was even par after eight holes and then stumbled with two triple bogeys in a row.
The response a year ago might have been catastrophizing the event but now the fellow walks calmly to his bag and takes a couple of deep breaths while looking at a laminated bag tag with a picture of his beautiful wife and baby.
Life is grand!
