A very young cowboy has waded this stretch of The South Platte River countless times. Nearly 100% of the time there are two seventeen inch rainbow trout swimming contentedly a foot downstream from my boots.
Experts say it’s because our wading kicks up hundreds of little midges from the substrate and the fish nearly have a conveyer belt of morsels coming their way.
Shoot…and I thought they were admiring my casting ability.
