The Pistol
I have players in my tennis drill classes introduce themselves with their first name and either their preferred ice cream or favorite athlete of all time.
Today, Trevor asked me my favorite sports hero. In a split second, I told him Pistol Pete Maravich. The Pistol played for LSU over 55 years ago and is still recognized as a revolutionary player who averaged 44.5 points per game for three years before there was a three point line.
When he arrived at LSU, freshman could not play on the varsity whose games preceded the varsity. The arena was sold out for his games and the majority of spectators left before the varsity took the court.
