It was a great day yesterday with two delightful tennis lessons with hungry to learn players, a nice session at the gym, 80 pages of the terrific book Theo of Golden, and…
a welcome return to juggling after weeks off due to cataract surgery.
My juggling playlist gets the juices flowing and thirty minutes is like a booster shot to the brain…it’s as if the brain whispers ‘I’ve missed you, juggling man’.
Us oldsters, unless we’re diligent, are subject to the clutches of sarcopenia. My definition is that it’s a condition of semi stagnation due to too much couch time, not enough play time, and a gradual build up of plaque in the brain and arteries.
Juggling surely counters this pesky intruder and it must be valuable if hordes of professional tennis players do it daily. I’ve long thought that jugglers, musicians, and artists add years to their lives if committed to their special skills.
Why the violin picture…the instrument was clearly invented in heaven and given to us as a reminder to slow down, breathe deeply, and allow gratitude to govern our days.
