The turnabout was extraordinary. Six months ago, Jana had hit rock bottom. She had gotten involved with people who shared questionable habits. Her job was wearing on her and she often wondered if she’d ever find a way out. Jana attended weekly counseling sessions with a person who believed in her. The expert knew there was a new and dynamic story Jana could write once she turned the page from the ‘just get by’ world she had fallen into. One day she awoke and said ‘enough.’ In two weeks she had found a new job working with energized young people who admired her talent and work ethic. Jana went to a park on a sunny Saturday morning after an exciting week of work. It was here that she often came to write in her journal. She loved the person she now viewed each morning in the mirror….loved the feeling of pride that she felt each day when using her gifts. Her journal entries of the past seemed so removed from her now….like they were written by a dark shadow she had finally left behind.
This day she wrote….
‘Bring it on world. Why not wear attention grabbing hats and swagger through life like it’s your birthday? Pity those who are more drag than swag.’
