The Sudarium of Oviedo

August 16, 2023

The Sudarium of Oviedo is a small, blood stained, head cloth revered as a relic that details much of the sufferings of a Man who died of asphyxiation after having a cap of thorns thrust onto his scalp. The wounds on this cloth, when compared to those of The Shroud of Turin match precisely indicating […]

Reflection

August 9, 2023

Be still, be grateful, and kind Let not this roller coaster like world hijack your mind Be generous, be courteous, and strong Savor the little things with the knowledge were not here for very long Live it up…slow it down but take not one day… one minute, or one breath for granted.

Trout hunter

August 7, 2023

A not so young cowboy was stalking trout in 11 mile canyon this morning when he encountered a large Osprey doing the same. I have to think he made out better than I did…kind of like the one in this film clip. Just click on arrow and scroll to view.

The end of a special era

August 7, 2023

Racquet World at Inverness opened in 1984 and was, arguably, the premier tennis club in Colorado. A much older cowboy took a drive by the club today upon hearing the news that it would be closing at the end of August. Kudos to Mr. Bob Gaiser who was the designer, owner, and driving force that […]

It’s a guarantee that we won’t always see eye to eye but it shouldn’t stop us from trying.

What if…

August 4, 2023

A very young cowboy was pretty bummed when failing a first driver’s license exam in 1966. I had been really excited to try my new wheels…a 1949 Plymouth. Do you remember your anticipation of that first car…that Little Deuce Coup or 409 like The Beach Boys sang about? This morning leaving Mass, a driver was […]

No worries

August 4, 2023

John was feeling a bit low after failing to break 100 again with his friends. They tried to console him but it took granddaughter Autumn’s hug to put things in perspective

Words to the wise

August 4, 2023

‘Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.’ John Wesley

Oh my!

August 4, 2023

This morning, I watched a few minutes of tomahawk throwing contest on ESPN. Lesson learned…’dude, get a life.’ The contestants were actually very good and one fella spiced it up a bit by wearing his lucky grizzly bear slippers. I guess it’s better than watching Joey Chestnut win yet another hot dog eating contest. Anyway, […]

Spectacular

August 4, 2023

The phrase must see TV  has been overused over the years…but it applies here as one of the greatest speeches ever is delivered by Jim Valvano. Just click on arrow and scroll to watch.

ICBW

July 31, 2023

Maybe wearing a bracelet daily with the letters ICBW would be a reminder to keep things in perspective. Or perhaps the picture here taped to the refrigerator would accomplish the same so that we’re continually aware that It Could Be Worse.

Thankful

July 30, 2023

There are so many prayers of thanks that could be said but one.added this year is not a biggie but still relevant. Thank You, Lord, for the mute button that silences all commercials and the over zealous screaming of professional tennis matches.

Despair not…there is an answer

July 28, 2023

A group of us young at heart folks got together tonight to listen to one of our favorite groups. Ok…these fellas are minimally 12 years younger than we are and they play sweet oldies. They are aptly named The Hip Replacements. The concert was on the patio at The South Suburban Golf Course and quite […]

Chaos

July 26, 2023

After experiencing the cwaaazzzyyy road and sidewalk repair that seems to be everywhere, I had to ask one of the workers an important question. Can you promise me that once this chaos is over that we will never see you again?

Celebrate

July 25, 2023

Barb and Joe were honored with a standing ovation after Mass today. They are celebrating their 70th. wedding anniversary. It made an aging cowboy think that maybe one day Sally and I might reach that milestone. If so, I’ve been assured there’s a slightly different celebration as Sally is venerated as a saint.
