A good friend told a very young man about an incredible high school wrestler from Pueblo.
Aaden Valdez finished 5th at state in his freshman year.
Last summer, Valdez lost four fingers on his left hand and his left eye in a fireworks accident.
You would think that was the end of the young man’s wrestling career.
Guess again. After being released from the hospital, he was soon running three miles a day and working out feverishly to maintain his strength.
Fast forward to the state tournament. Young Aaden made it to the championship match where he was leading 1-0 as time wound down. He eventually lost 2-1 to claim second place while earning the admiration of everyone in the arena.
Incredible!
