Oh Yeah!

While driving to the river yesterday, it occurred to me that our lives can often be compared to the various water types rolling through the Rockies.

Our best days are like the glides where hardly a ripple can be viewed and we roll happily along like riding a tube on a ‘lazy river’ at Water World.

As you know, the glides often are not the norm.  We, more than likely, get caught up in bumpy riffles or roaring rapids that can bounce us to and fro like the bumper cars at Elitch’s amusement park. We are bruised and often knocked to our knees.

At some point, most all of us will encounter a plunge pool with waters so strong that we’re shoved to the bottom with the force of a high school bully menacing a helpless victim.

Chris Tomlin is a celebrated Christian musician who sings a song called I Will Rise. Wise is the parent who teaches their youngsters that they too can rise above the depths of life’s inevitable plunge pools and that peaceful, easy, glides are few and far between…that the rocky riffles and raging rapids can make you stronger if you learn early the words of Albert Jay Nock…

’what lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.’

This morsel is dedicated to Carrie who just gets stronger every day.
