The famous comedian W.C. Fields used the word hoodwink back in his heyday. It’s not used much anymore but it means to mislead or confuse. You could say the quarterback called a play option pass to hoodwink the opposing linebackers. Mr. Hawk here is trying to hoodwink the unsuspecting robin at the end of the bridge. He’s giving this head fake as if being totally unaware of the little bird’s presence. That’s how Mr. Big Hawk gets so large and rarely misses a meal.
