A place of peace

By Mike Hall, August 27, 2018

Our neighbors warned us…7:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Get ready.

Sure enough, right on the dot , the jackhammers began ripping apart their driveway as the sounds reverberated through the cul de sac and beyond.

A very young cowboy had decided to forego a trip to the river to work on a focus program he’d had great success with since April.

The program utilizes many cross lateral, brain balancing exercises including juggling while listening to music through earphones.

A song began to play that was so at odds with the loud mini tremors coming from the workers, that it made me think.

The title of the song is A Place Called Morning by Bill Douglas.

Maybe it could be named A Place of Peace.

It occurred to me that we all have combustible, tremor like events that stream through our lives each day.

How do we respond?

Is it with angst and frustration?

Or, do we cling to a place of peace that lives at the heart of us…an unpreturbable oasis that knows with patience and prayer that the commotion will pass.

A place of peace…oh thank God that there is that place as the world gets a little more out of balance each year.
