A pastor from New York City was on a mission trip in Argentina. He was, through an interpreter, sharing the gospel with people…many who were the poorest of the poor.
From a nearby tent, a woman emerged and knelt at his feet. She took a rag and began buffing his shoes that had become covered in dust.
The pastor turned to the interpreter and requested that he ask the woman to stop because it made him feel uncomfortable.
The interpreter spoke to the woman in Spanish.
She looked up and said…’how blessed are the shoes that bring the good tidings of the gospel to the people.’
Surrounded by the uncomfortable, the pastor realized comfort was not his top priority.
