Well, I hope it’s a sign of maturity but the jury is still out. Jake and Levi (our neighbor’s Alaskan malamutes) were at it again last night. Howling at all hours of the night is obviously wired into their DNA. It used to get me riled up but now, thankfully, I’m just amused. When you get older, sometimes sleep is pretty elusive anyway. Don’t get me wrong, I still wonder if their owners have an IQ above that of a pigeon, but it is only a passing thought. Sure, I agree it may not be the best idea to get up at 2:00 a.m. and fill a bucket with ice cold water and heave it over the fence at Levi. I mean, c’mon, that’s amusing isn’t it? I guess not so funny when you see how angry Levi (see picture) gets. My apologetic words of ‘chill buddy,can’t we just get along?’ didn’t seem to calm the enraged critter down. Returning home last night in my very stylish robe and slippers, you’d have seen a slight grin on my face…..because malamutes can be amusing.
