It was quite a trip to The South Platte River at Eleven Mile Canyon.
This has to be one of the most scenic places in Colorado. The rainbows and brown trout were very spirited and the views of snow capped Pikes Peak were extraordinary.
A very young cowboy decided to take highway 67 back to see if the large brown trout would be active at Deckers at sunset. It was a memorable ride to say the least. On a winding two lane road, the buzz of a motorcycle zipping by at 95 miles an hour was an eye opener.
The results of The Hayman Fire was still evident for miles on end. The cowboy neared Deckers and saw ten elk grazing in a rancher’s front yard. There were twenty-five deer feeding on the grass and two walking gingerly across the river.
The brown trout did not cooperate in the evening but the good thing is…at least one of the deer was friendly.
