The Grinch/Carp

By Mike Hall, December 24, 2015

A good friend and neighbor has rung the bell for The Salvation Army for the past fifteen years. I was going to give him a break so he could get off of his feet for a bit at a local King Soopers. When I approached him around two o’clock, he looked shaken. ‘I’ve just been robbed,’ he said. He had been on site collecting donations since 9:00 a.m. and said people had been very generous. Then, a man in a stocking cap decided to be the ultimate grinch. He grabbed the red bucket and ran north while two men gave chase. The grinch jumped a fence and got into a car that whisked him away. The police were called and a report filed. Channel 9 and Channel 7 News came by to interview my disillusioned neighbor. I mean c’mon….Christmas Eve and you steal from the needy. You might check the news and the paper tomorrow. Perhaps the store will add an extra day and our community will step up big time again. If this perpetrator was a fish, heaven knows he’d be a carp.
