It was an autumn day much like this one
The year was ’88
We were content and carefree—-no worries-no complaints
Yet something was missing
Until the call that changed it all
“It’s a girl”, the caller said
And our hearts skipped a beat
How were we to know
The missing piece was here….
The daughter of our dreams
We were on pins and needles
And for nineteen days we prayed
That God would smile down upon us
And bless our humble home
With this angel from above
He must have been listening
For the dream came true
And you came into our lives
Each day became a new adventure
With shaving cream faces and stories of Millie and friends
Now, twenty-seven years later
The adventure continues
And we are still as grateful as before
Not a day goes by that we don’t acknowledge
The good fortune that came our way that day
We’ve had hundreds…..no, thousands of calls since then
People asking for Mr. or Mrs. Hall
But trust me darlin….
There’s only been one call that has caused our hearts to skip a beat
That one call…. the call that changed it all.
