It was a beautiful June morning at Bridge Crossing on The South Platte River.
As I left the water near noon, two women anglers were seated on a bench having lunch.
We struck up a conversation and one woman said that twenty years ago, in the spot where I just failed to net a fish, she had caught twenty trout and four of them were lunkers over twenty inches long.
My how the times have changed.
These days, if an angler catches three fish in six hours on this river, he/she feels like a lottery winner…and these fish are, more likely than not, half the size of the ones noted above.
Oh well…the scenery is beautiful and ya may see a bald eagle or two.
