Hair raising incident

By Mike Hall, December 7, 2018

It was late May in 1969. The school year had just ended at Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Mike Hayes, a cowboy, and a couple of other friends were engaged in a spirited competition on our favorite pinball machine named MIBS.

All of a sudden, there was a commotion to our right.

A football player came sprinting past us like he was running for his life.

It turns out…he was.

A millisecond after passing us, he ran straight through a king sized plate glass window. Who could blame him as a second later, an ex friend wielding a knife went after him right through the window.

We went back to playing MIBS and never learned how this ended. The only thing we heard was that it was an argument that escalated over some stolen clothing.

These days, the incident would have been filmed and gone viral on You Tube…and Mesa College admissions would be down seventy per cent.
