My great, great friend Eileen has encouraged a now one year older cowboy to look for ‘glimmers’ as we go through the day.
I guess a succinct definition of a glimmer is an occurrence in one’s day that brings joy, laughter, connection, or astonishment.
We agreed to meet for breakfast at The Old Pancake House in south Denver. After a hearty meal, Eileen said the flowers she’d brought were for me to create a glimmer.
“Your assignment, should you choose to accept, is to present these flowers and a handwritten note to someone who could use a little pick me up.”
I started to laugh out loud and asked her to check inside the gift bag I’d brought for her. She first examined a book called The Attitude of Gratitude and then pulled out an inspirational card still wrapped.
“Your task, Eileen, is to try to find the person in your life who most needs to receive this card today.”
Thanks Eileen for the home run of bringing joy, laughter, connection, and astonishment to my day!
