Good news for South Platte fishermen.
The Colorado Game and Fish Department feels your pain. They have realized what you have…the Deckers stretch of the river is becoming like opening day at overcrowded Missouri streams.
A unique idea may just help as parking spaces and prime spots get jammed with anglers.
Colorado Game and Fish will be placing small tables and chess sets at 15 prime locations downstream from Deckers.
Anglers are encouraged to make a game of it…win and you get access as another angler exits the river. Of course, the fish will have been pressured by a never ending line of wannabe’s but heck…at least you’ll get to wet your waders.
This program will be evaluated by the end of May before the real crowds descend upon the river.
If unsuccessful, the next attempt will be to place large stocker filled tubs at these locations so people can wet a line.
