Surprise

By Mike Hall, May 31, 2023

It began like most Tuesdays with a vision of eagles soaring overhead and husky brown trout attacking my Baker Hole Bugger streamer.

An unexpected detour occurred near noon and soon after I was undergoing several tests at Littleton Hospital.

A simple comment by Sally regarding her trip to Africa was greeted by an odd look from me and no recognition of this upcoming adventure that we’ve discussed regularly for over nine months.

The subsequent admission that I could not recall mowing the grass two hours earlier was enough to warrant the trip to the emergency room.

Tomorrow, I’m fortunate to visit the professionals at Porter Hospital’s state of the art TIA/Stroke center where further testing will be done. I’m optimistic because the only symptom I had yesterday was the memory issue and I feel totally fine.

It seems that the culprit is called a Transient Ischemic Attack or TIA.

Here’s hoping that very soon I’ll be outfitted with a sleep apnea controlling device as my intuition tells me that sleep issues have been a contributing factor in this.

So, no eagles or trout tomorrow either but ya do what ya gotta do when these wake up calls come knocking.

The eagles normally catch more than I do anyway.
