Thirteen year old Ryan had all but given up hope. He finally met with a counselor at school and said, ‘it is incomprehensible to me that not one hint of recognition, concern, or caring has ever been shown by my parents when the storm clouds surrounded me. It’s as if they thought they could sweep my pain under the rug and it would disappear. Incomprehensible and oh so harmful.’
