An aging angler somewhat like myself was sixty yards downstream from me yesterday at scenic Tarryall Creek.
He was standing idly on the bank as the stream rushed by. An instant later, he took a step forward, lost his balance, and did a massive un Greg Louganis like belly flop into the water.
I could imagine the shock to his system as the spring snowmelt water is extremely cold.
He righted himself in a few seconds but I’m afraid his fly rod was a casualty in this fishing kerfuffle.
Perhaps he’ll stay closer to his buddy next trip as falls like this do not always turn out so well for fishermen in their eighth decade of life.
