Miracle in Tokyo

Billy Mills was born on June 30, 1938 and overcame childhood poverty, racism, and the loss of both parents by age 12.

He was a member of The Oglala Lakota Tribe.

Before his father died, he counseled Billy to. “look beyond the hurt” and chase a dream believing that following this dream would heal his soul.

Mills also battled type 2 diabetes and hypoglycemia as a child.

He went on to star in track at The University of Kansas where he was a three time NCAA champion in track.

Billy Mills entered The Marine Corps and overcame a debilitating mental health crisis in his twenties.

Most believe that The USA hockey team victory in Lake Placid in 1980 was aptly titled The Miracle on Ice.

I submit to you that Mills victory in Tokyo was a miracle as well.
