“I do practice self compassion, quite often.
I find it does bring me out of the initial “oh s..t” circuitĀ when I realize I’ve forgotten something essential for the next thing to happen, or I’ve mis-judged, or made the wrong call.
Then I try to practice what neuroscience writer Jonah Lehrer’s advice,
“Turn every regrettable moment into an AFGO…….Another Frickin’ Growth Opportunity.”
As long as I can learn something from what went ker-flooey, I feel like I’ve redeemed myself, and I can keep walking with happy feet.
