Dave adopted Gunner from The Dumb Friends League when he was three months old.
He resisted taking him to the vet even though his aging friend seemed to be in pain.
When Dave finally did make the appointment, Gunner was having trouble walking.
The news from the vet was not good and Dave realized he’d soon have to say ‘goodbye.’
His wife snapped this picture as Dave hugged Gunner before the final trip to the doctor.
He misses Gunner every day…the walks in the woods and the quiet times in front of the fireplace.
Truly, his friend was that and more…yes,so much more than a pet. Gunner will always hold a special place in Dave’s heart and one day….maybe one day he’ll see if another young friend might become Gunner Two.
