Rick Barry is a Hall of Fame basketball player and one of the purest
free throw shooters in history making 90% during his career.
We had season tickets in the third row in 1975 in Kansas City.
I watched Barry in warmups and he’ looked peeved whenever his
ball touched the rim.
Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points on March 2, 1962. He was known
as an awful free throw shooter, but in this game he made 28 for 32.
Mason Plumlee was a very good player for a number of NBA teams
and his free throws were so ugly that he chose to shoot left handed
when his shot put like one hander clanged off of so many rims.
Mason improved his % by twenty points making this switch.
Ted St. Martin holds the world record for free throws making
5,221 on April 28, 1996. This feat took 7 hours and 20 minutes
to complete. Tom Amberry made 2,750 consecutive free throws at
age 61 and would have made more but the rec center gym had to close
at 11:00 p.m..
