A very young cowboy was returning from the river yesterday heading south on Santa Fe near The Daniels Park Road.
The road narrows to a single lane and it was just before that change that I heard it. The sound was like a a million hornets trying to escape a fast approaching tornado.
Ok…it was not a crazed bunch of hornets. It was an adrenaline junkie on a motorcycle trying to beat me to the single lane. I was going fifty and he nearly doubled that going by me in a blur of at least 90 mph..
With a day to think about it, I know that battling an 18 inch rainbow is a huge adrenaline burst too.
Someone calls it The Tug is The Drug.
Surely, both the daredevil and the cowboy seek highs in very different ways.
I watched the fella slow to a stop as rush hour traffic slowed.
He turned left on Daniels Park Road and the next thing I saw was the dude doing a high flying wheelie for at least 200 yards.
I think I’ll stick to the thrill of chasing large rainbows and brown trout. It’s safer and people might think this old dude resembles a stalking heron but never an over amped hornet.
