Cowboy dreams

By Mike Hall, December 27, 2015

Jacob, like many boys his age, is fascinated by horses and cowboys. One of the highlights of his life was attending the rodeo last summer in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He was enthralled watching the cowboys and girls zipping around the rodeo ring and doing tricks with their ponies that seemed impossible. This was the first year that Jacob’s parents let him participate in the junior ‘mutton bustin’ event. Kids get a taste of riding by mounting a sheep and holding on for dear life. Jacob was glad he was wearing a helmet because Sadie threw him in just under three seconds. The fearless young cowboy dreams of one day riding the cantankerous steers that are like earthquakes trying to throw his heroes to the dirt. Thank goodness those brave clowns are there to keep the riders from getting hurt.
