Bide your time

Rainbow, brown, brook, cutbow, lake trout…they’ll all be waiting for action 100 days from now high in the Colrado Rockies. Purists will begin casting Royal Coachman flies from nine foot fly rods as soon as the ice begins clearing. Little kids will dunk worms or have dad fling a red and white bobber with Power Bait trailing on a bronzed, barbed hook. One hundred days. Seems like a long time.

If ya can’t wait, there’s rainbows like this fella prowling the river edges on The South Platte at Deckers. Forty-five minute drive. Sneak up on these big boys as they are awfully wary. The mountain lions are too…so bring a whistle and some bear spray.
