A thought came to me yesterday that I’ve been a bit of a slacker.
I recall reading an article in July about nine year old Lucy Harris.
Her family’s car was rear ended by a careless driver and she was paralyzed instantly from the waist down.
Fast forward three months and Lucy just picked out a neat purple wheelchair and I’ve been sitting on the sidelines.
Whatever prompted me today to search online for a Gofundme page for Lucy remains unclear.
What’s baffling is why it’s taken more than ninety days to fully awaken my heart to the challenges that Lucy and her family are facing.
Go figure.
Complacency is a silent saboteur for sure.
I have an idea for a tennis fundraiser to support The Harris family.
Just let me know if you’d like to be informed of efforts to help.
Here’s the link if you wish to support Lucy and her family. https://gofund.me/3c658d30
**. I mentioned Lucy to our junior tennis coordinator and his eyes lit up. “I’m certified in wheelchair tennis teaching and would love to explore a scholarship for Lucy!”
We live in a very connected and compassionate world if are less driven by devices and open to soulspeak.
