Acceptance

By Mike Hall, March 1, 2022

A long retired former golf addict spoke today with a great friend I’ve known since 1966.

He lives much of the year in sunny Arizona and plays golf as much as his body will allow.

I asked if he had played recently and was impressed with his story of a round this week. The gentleman recounted that, in the span of four holes, he was sixteen over par. You might ask why, on earth, was I impressed. Well, had that been me, I’d certainly have gone into seclusion for a week hoping that my wife had hidden all sharp instruments.

The fella said it was like lightning bolts going off in his brain as he scored two 10’s in a row. He said that he somehow kept it together and was able to share a drink with playing partners after the meltdown.

Kudos to my friend.

May this display of acceptance arise each time this maddening game tries steal your sanity.
