Time passages

By Mike Hall, May 23, 2016

A very young cowboy and his much younger wife just returned from Kansas City. At this time last Monday night, we celebrated Sally’s birthday at a reunion of cowboy’s classmates of long ago. Steve Fasone was a best friend and a terrific baseball pitcher and basketball player. We used to play pool regularly in his basement and his mom made sure we had plenty of great food each time. I was at Segner Field and witnessed Steve turning at the wrong moment and having his nose broken by an errant throw by a teammate. The last time Steve and I were together was in 1966 when he visited Colorado with another friend named John Dold. The math is easy to do. Last Monday, we connected after fifty years. Every time I think about it, it is mind boggling. Time waits for no one. Perhaps with Facebook and e-mail, we’ll stay in touch and plan a fishing trip or a getaway to Mexico. Fifty years. Oh where did the time go?

That’s Steve on the front right. From right to left is Fasone, Jack Holland, Pete Kovich, Jim Mitchell, Tom Gleissner, Tom Finholm, and Cowboy.

A big thanks to Tom and Julie Finholm for putting this party together.
