The right words

By Mike Hall, January 6, 2016

A very young man hurriedly slipped on slacks, sweater, and shoes this morning and headed out the door.

There was no time for breakfast but…..no worries…..for nourished he’d shortly be by the words of Shane Farmer.

“Far too many of us greatly underestimate the impact and influence we have on those we meet each day.

Your look…..

your words…..and your touch hold incredible power to heal wounds and help hearts reclaim their joy.

Never…..ever…..ever underestimate the power you possess to say or write the perfect word…..give the compassionate look, or offer the knowing touch that could turn someone’s day around.”

Oh, how this young man wished he’d heard those words yesterday morning.

We celebrated our daughter’s twenty-fifth birthday last night with an incredible dinner. After a bite of her fantabulous filet, Carly said, “I am just soooo happy right now!”

What an opportunity ……what an opening…..and how I now wish I’d have said,

“Carly……you have brought us so much happiness over the years…….we’re really happy too!”

Who knows…..maybe that statement could have been saved in her emotional bank account and recalled the next time a difficult day comes a knockin’.

Writing this at 11:09 a.m……James Taylor is singing Shower The People. I love the ‘Live” version where the audience sings along with him.

‘Father and Mother…..sister and brother….if it feels nice …..don’t think twice

Shower The People you love, show them the way you feel

Shower The People you love, show them the way you feel

Things are going to be much better if you only will.’

Your look…..

your words…..

and your touch hold incredible power.
