As a tennis coach, I receive match feedback each week from players of all levels.
The report that came in today was disconcerting to say the least.
In a recent 3.5 women’s doubles match, a player deemed it ‘fine and dandy’ to scream (louder than Sharapova) on each hit. But…it wasn’t on the strike of the ball, it was well after the ball left her racquet in hopes that the obnoxious shrieking would distract her opponents.
These matches are not officiated, so what can be done?
Well, I have a number of ideas.
** When this is approved by The CTA, maybe the gamesmanship will stop and fewer players will feel like the exasperated woman accompanying this morsel.
** One would think this player’s coach would have put an end to these shenanigans long ago.
