Love space

By Mike Hall, November 5, 2015

On Wednesday, two young boys ages 7 and 9 were attending 6:30 a.m. Mass with their mother.

The boys wore light blue sweater vests that seemed to be the uniform at St. Thomas More school.

The kids flanked their mom one on each side.

Ten minutes into the Mass, the nine year old stepped in front of his mother.

She wrapped both arms around him and gently kissed him on his head. I stood just behind them and wondered a couple of things.

Does she realize the value of the ‘love space’ she’s created at home that would encourage him this way?

Will this space continue as he becomes twelve or thirteen?

I choose to believe it has always been present and always will be.

It reminded me of a young bird in a nest…..so loved and oh so secure draped by the wings of an adoring mom.
