Hands on

March 15, 2016

We will always be clay. And the world will always be our sculptor, but we have the power to direct those hands, to shape our selves, and it’s our duty as thinking creatures to create. Norman Peterson

State Champs

March 14, 2016

It doesn’t get much better than this for a junior hockey team. To get the chance to play on the ice at The Pepsi Center in a state championship game is incredible. To win the game 4-2 and claim your first state title …..well, that is a memory to last a lifetime. Kudos to the […]

Turbulence

March 11, 2016

There is no one….not a single soul, who can avoid the churning waters of life. The question will forever be….To Whom do you cling to when the waves rise….the turbulence increases, and you feel as though you could be swept overboard? Photo by Dave Irey Homework Google Horatio Spafford It is well with my soul […]

Heart and soul

March 9, 2016

You have stolen a precious part of me yet you’ll never claim the heart of me You can’t touch the flame that burns in me…. the spirit that lives for eternity I’ll give you credit for you’ve awakened a power inside that’s unstoppable a thirst that is unquenchable…. and a hunger that won’t be denied […]

Dreams

March 9, 2016

The sun never sets on a dream It may be obscured by a cloud or storm but the sun never sets on a dream Quietly it slips behind an old oak tree yet the sun never sets on a dream It passes beneath the horizon and seems to dip into the sea….still the sun never […]

Pride and Joy

March 8, 2016

Helen Gray recently celebrated her ninety-first birthday in Arvada, Colorado. She’s been alone since her husband passed away in 2004. Helen’s pride and joy is her great granddaughter Allie who loves going to Sunday Mass with her ‘Nana.’ It’s pretty clear that there’s a special place in Allie’s heart for Ms. Helen.

Rio

March 8, 2016

Jordan is a super tennis player with a one year old puppy named Rio. The dog loves to play ‘fetch’, ‘tug of war’ and engages in the dangerous pastime of chasing cars. Here’s hoping chasing frisbees soon replaces the car craze.

Scary

March 6, 2016

Yes folks….The Republican debate this week was scary. They have taken the word crass to another level. In the future, it’s best not to let young children watch as these two were both scared and appalled at what they heard.

Party time

March 5, 2016

Eventually the party days of the college years devolve with age and you just have to make the best of it.

Spencer

March 5, 2016

It wasn’t The U S Open, just a small junior tennis tournament in Kansas City. Spencer was in his first final and could not get over the nervousness that seemed to follow him like a cloud. Maybe it would have been better if his father didn’t sit so close to the court and wear his […]

Ryan

March 5, 2016

Maybe we could learn from Ryan. He was plunked in the head by a falling apple and chose to laugh it off. Will you make that choice today if life ‘plunks’ you in the noggin?

Cancer free

March 4, 2016

I’d like to take the rogue cells Each one that’s gone awry We’d put them in a pink balloon and send them to the sky Or take them to the station and put them on a train They’d depart at 6:05 and you’d be free again I’d tie them in a duffel bag and ship […]

Class

March 2, 2016

The sun set yesterday on Dr. Ben Carson’s quest for the presidency. We salute the renowned neurosurgeon for bringing class and character to the debate. Here’s hoping when the sun rises in early November, that we will have chosen a leader with a touch of Dr. Ben’s moral compass. It’s a long shot given the […]
